Just a word about the chicken. Chicken? On a bike ride? Somebody’s gotta be kiddin’ here! Actually, we
have been serving the same food for many years at the Hilly and those who
attend regard our food as "traditional" and would miss many of our signature
dishes if we made wholesale changes. We understand that some people have
concerns regarding gluten free options and though we are not able to accommodate
specialized diets for 5,000 riders, we do offer many food options. For
instance, in addition to fried chicken at lunch, we also offer black bean
salad, pasta salad, whole grain breads and peanut butter, local honey,
fresh vegetables and local apple cider and apples as well as bananas. We
also offer many other menu items at the other rest stops. We are quite proud
of our menu and we have 5,000 happy riders at our ride every year and have
for 44 years. The Indianpolis Star approves. Their article of October 17 says so. Click here. |
